This virtual roundtable will be themed around technological transformation and innovation, with a particular focus on robust IT which develops as firms grow and innovate.
Our speakers will review the pitfalls that can be easily made, and what steps should be taken to ensure the best solutions are implemented for digital transformation and better alignment with clients.
Principal, Edge International (Chair)
Chris Bull is a management consultant, retained advisor and business thinker and speaker focused on the legal services sector. Throughout his career he has been consistently been a pioneer of alternative business models and transformation in the sector. His roles include COO and Chief Executive at mould-breaking law firm Osborne Clarke, COO for Europe and the Americas at alternative legal service provider Integreon and working at all four of the Big 4 accounting firms. He advised on a series of high-profile Alternative Business Structure launches in the UK for clients including KPMG and LegalZoom.
His legal consulting career began in 2011 and he has advised multiple law firms and other professional service organisations in the UK, North America and Asia as part of Edge International’s strategy consulting team and as a founder of the Intuity Alliance.
Chris has become one of the busiest speakers and chairs at legal business and innovation events. He is a judge for many legal sector awards, including British Legal Technology Awards and Modern Law Awards. He chairs the Legal COO Network and co-chairs Bristol+BathLegalTech. His publications include ‘The Legal Process Toolkit’ and ‘Law Firms in the Digital Age’ and, due for publication Spring 2021, ‘The Agile Law Firm’.
As CIO at Cripps, Jo is passionate about communicating and engaging with the business to understand the needs of the legal and support teams, and ensuring the right processes and systems are in place to deliver the best possible service to our clients. With over twenty years’ experience in the legal sector, working at firms of between 50 to over 4,500 people, she has a deep understanding of how law firms operate, enabling her to focus on ensuring efficiency and effectiveness.
Jo started life on the service desk and worked her way up as a systems engineer, IT and Operations manager, Head of Service Delivery, Operations Director and CIO so has a solid understanding of technology to now support her role driving the firm’s strategy.
She is also the Divisional Head for the Central Services Division at Cripps. This includes the firm’s central Paralegal Team, Document Production and Administration teams as well as the ICT, Projects and Innovation teams. Jo sees her division as being enablers for the business and its clients and her vision is to drive value through efficiency and quality service delivery.
One of the most enjoyable aspects of her role is working with such talented and dedicated teams: she values building relationships with them and the wider business to promote collaborative working, whilst making sure to have fun along the way!
David Aird, IT Director,
David has been IT Director at DAC Beachcroft since 2013. Whilst there, he has delivered a new IT strategy, pushed for a cloud first approach and delivered agile working. His IT team, won Legal IT team of the year 2019.
Objectives for the next 12 months are to create our second IT Strategy, putting clients and colleagues at the heart of it. Key projects / initiatives this year include delivery of our new PMS alongside a new matter inception system / as well as pushing Microsoft 365 into the business. Interests include cloud and social media and outside of work, rugby is a passion.
Nina Gratrick An experienced Service Delivery Manager with a demonstrated history of working in the legal industry at a global level. She’s a skilled resource manager capable of crossing the divide between technology and people; facilitating engagement at all levels. A coach, a mentor, an agent for change within organisations, supporting people, process and technology transformation to reshape the vision of IT services and support.
We talk about how the evolution of IT service delivery, and how by being customer centric, it’s possible to push the boundries of change at your firm.
Paul Morrison has over 15 years of experience in the collaboration space, where he has been responsible for the EMEA Voice and UC Product Roadmap development at Level 3 Communications and CenturyLink, overseeing the launch of new products into the EMEA market, as well as managing the lifecycles of the legacy platforms, ensuring quality of service for customers and a migration strategy moving forwards.
Paul has extensive experience working with enterprise and government clients across their collaboration journey, and he bring a creative approach and the ability to solve complex business challenges that solve technical problems whilst at the same time achieve the optimum commercial, and financial solution.
