John Spencer provides evidence to EU Home Affairs Sub-Committee
The Faculty’s Professor Emeritus of Law John Spencer was invited to give evidence before the House of Lords EU Home Affairs Sub-Committee on Wednesday 18 April.
Professor Spencer gave evidence alongside Mr Nick Vamos, Partner at Peters and Peters, on the topic of the proposed UK-EU security treaty in the light of the UK withdrawal from the EU, including issues of the European Arrest Warrant (EAW) and the jurisdiction of the The Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU). The Committee was particularly keen to talk about the potential for reluctance of some EU Member States to extradite their nationals to the UK after Brexit.
Professor Spencer is also President of the European Criminal Law Association (UK) (ECLA(UK)).
The hearing is available to stream from the Parliament website.
