Gilbert Leong

Gilbert Leong is a Senior Partner in Dentons Rodyk’s Intellectual Property & Technology practice group and Technology, Media and Telecommunications practice group.

Gilbert is a pioneer in the technology area for IT law, data protection and computer misuse. He serves as trusted counsel to regulators in Singapore, large financial institutions, outsource service providers and large buyers of IT systems and IT services.

He has also been counsel to parties involved in the telecommunication industry. In particular, he has advised on disputes arising as between telecommunication licensees, application for licenses, market access and infrastructural issues. Gilbert has also been very active in the field of data privacy/protection matters, having written and spoken widely on the area.  Currently, he is also a member of the Sub-Committee on AI & Robotics of the Law Reform Committee of the Singapore Academy of Law.

Gilbert is recognised as a leading lawyer for his expertise in many notable publications, including Chambers Asia-Pacific, The Legal 500 Asia Pacific and Who’s Who Legal.

In addition to his legal qualifications, Gilbert also holds a Certificate in Computer Programming and Information Processing from the City & Guilds of London Institute. Gilbert has authored numerous articles and given speeches on a variety of intellectual property rights, technology issues and electronic commerce.

Gilbert was also a member of several technology-focused think tanks in Singapore.
